Student Maps

What is a Student Map?

A Student Map is an online visual outline of your course structure and requirements and is designed to make it easy for you to plan and select the right units according to the ECU Handbook to progress through your course.

We're rolling these out gradually so not all courses will be available just yet. If there is not a Student Map available for you, you can still contact the Student Hub and they will be able to give you a Course Planner. You can find a full list of the courses that currently have a Student Map available in the “How do I access my Student Map?” section below.

Students studying at an offshore institution, can still contact the support services at your local provider or send your enquiry to tnpsupport@ecu.edu.au for guidance.

Your Student Map is an online tool that can help you:

  • See the units you have already passed in your course.
  • See the units you have been granted Credit and Recognition of Prior learning for (CRPL) if applicable.
  • Work out what units you still need to complete to graduate.
  • Identify different major/minor/specialisations unit combinations (if relevant for your course)
  • Plan your upcoming enrolments.

How do I access my Student Map?

Students studying the University Preparation Course (C28) in Summer School will also be able to access the link for Student Maps via My UniStart.

For all other students, if the Student Hub are assisting you with an enquiry, they may include a direct link to your Student Map via email. Remember we use your ECU student email address for all University correspondence.

If there is not a Student Map available for your course, the Student Hub will continue to assist you with course advice via your student email, attaching a personalised Course Planner where appropriate.

Check below to see if your course has a Student Map available or check out the "Downloads" section of this page

*Note the roll out of Student Maps will occur over several teaching periods and will only be available for the version of the course that was active at the time of release and any subsequent new versions.

  • Use terminology like Teaching Period 1, 2, 3 etc.  Where Teaching Period 1 is the first Teaching Period you are studying. E.g., if you are commencing in Summer, Summer is Teaching Period 1 and then if you next study in Semester 1, that will be Teaching Period 2.  For more information on Teaching Periods see: What is a teaching period?
  • Draw on the course structure outlined in the Handbook, relevant to your enrolled course and course version (e.g., L96.7 = L96 version 7).
  • Be personalised to your student record.
  • Be only available to you and appropriate ECU staff (like Student Hub or Course Coordinator) once you accept your course offer.
  • Be used by Student Hub staff to assist you with course structure and enrolment planning or changes.
  • Be a way to automatically enrol, you still need to go into SIMO and submit your enrolment for planned units. Check out the guide in the "See Also" section.
  • Be an automatic approval for units you select or plan outside of the course structure, you still require the appropriate permissions from your School.
  • Be something you can use to change courses, majors or specialisations. You must follow the appropriate procedures to ensure these are correctly updated on your record.
  • Be a replacement for seeking Course Coordinator or Student Hub advice if you need it. If you are unsure about anything to do with your course progression or enrolment, please contact the Student Hub.

Can I get help with using my Student Map?
