Confidentiality

All consultations provided by the ECU Health Service are strictly confidential.

Your medical record is a confidential document

All consultations provided by the Health Service are strictly confidential.

It is the policy of this practice to always maintain the security of your personal health information and to ensure that your information is only available to authorised members of staff.

Under no circumstances will members of the practice team discuss or in any way reveal patient conditions or documentation to unauthorised staff, colleagues, other patients, family or friends, whether at the practice or outside it, such as in the home or at social occasions.

This includes patient’s accounts, referral letters or other clinical documentation.

We will not provide Edith Cowan University teaching or administrative staff with any information about you without your express consent.

This practice complies with federal and state privacy regulations including the Privacy Act 1988 and Privacy Amendment (Enhancing Privacy Protection) Act 2012 as well as complying with standards set out in the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners (RACGP) Handbook for the management of health information in general practice (3rd edition).

If you have a suggestion, feedback or a complaint we would like to hear from you so that we can improve our services.

We are currently undergoing preparation for re-accreditation against the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners (RACGP) Standards for General Practices (5th edition). We value your feedback so that we can improve the services we provide.

Please feel free to talk to your doctor, nurse or receptionist. You may prefer to write to the Practice Manager of the Health Services or use our suggestion box.

The health service takes your concerns, suggestions and complaints seriously. However, in the circumstance where you may wish to take a matter further and feel the need to discuss this matter with an agency outside of the medical centre an appropriate contact is:
