Fees and Charges

Fees and Charges

We are primarily a student support service, so we aim to keep our services FREE or LOW COST for our students.

Students please note: From 1 December 2025 BUPA claims will no longer be direct billed. Fees with a co-payment will apply to BUPA, CBHS, NIB and overseas visitors cover policies. Students with Medibank , AHM and Allianz will continue to be direct billed with no co-pay for doctor consultations.

Students

Currently enrolled students of ECU, ECC or North Metro TAFE will be billed as follows for consultations with a general practitioner (GP):

  • Medicare Card Holders: If you are an ECU enrolled Australian resident student with a current Medicare card, your doctor’s fee will be bulk billed to Medicare where possible.
  • OSHC Members: If you are an international student with OSHC Medibank, AHM or Allianz your doctor’s fee can be directly billed to your OSHC fund so there is no co-pay on the day.
  • OSHC Members: International students with other funds, including BUPA, CBHS and NIB, cannot be direct billed and will be charged the student fee, which is payable on the day. We will provide you with a receipt so that you can claim a rebate back from your fund.
  • OSVC Members: Students with Visitors Cover cannot be direct billed and will be charged the student fee, which is payable on the day. We will provide you with a receipt so that you can claim a rebate back from your fund.

Non-Students

  • ECU staff, visitors and public patients are billed by private account and are required to pay on the day of consultation.
  • Patients who are the children of ECU students (under the age of 18/still in school) will be treated as ECU students (i.e. bulk billed or direct billed to the OSHC fund where eligible or charged at the student rate).
  • Partners of ECU students are charged a discounted private fee and are required to pay on the day.
  • We can submit your claim to Medicare on the day, and usually your rebate will be in your bank account within 24-48 hours.

Fees

A list of private fees is available at the reception desk in both medical centres.

Additional fees are charged for non-claimable services, such as:

  • Private vaccines not covered by Medicare or your health fund
  • Pre-employment medical assessments
  • Workers’ compensation claims
  • Motor Vehicle Accident claims
