Access to University Software

ECU Software Portal

Not on campus and unable to access the labs? No problem! The ECU Software Portal allows you to access over 40 applications on your personal devices at any time, as long as you have internet access. The ECU Software Portal is supported on computers running Windows or Mac and mobile devices using iOS and Android.

ECU's Free Software Download Service

Through our licensing agreements, home use software is available for use on personal devices.

Visit the Software Download Service to view and download a range of free software available for ECU staff and students. Please log in with your ECU email credentials to gain access. You will be required to register as a first-time user.

Software available through this service includes:

  • EndNote 20
  • SPSS Statistics 28
  • SPSS AMOS 28
  • NVivo 1.6
  • NVivo 12

Microsoft Office 365 and Collaboration Tools

In addition to your email, ECU staff and students are provided with a free subscription to Office 365 which can be installed on personal devices (Windows, Mac and mobile devices) which includes Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, OneNote, and Microsoft Teams, plus additional collaboration tools. You can sign in to the Student Office 365 Portal using your ECU email credentials to get started. For Android or iOS devices, visit the Google Play or App Store respectively to download and install the Microsoft Office Mobile app.

The software is fully licensed while you are studying at ECU and can be installed on up to five computers (Windows/Mac), five tablets and five smartphones for a total of fifteen devices.

Microsoft Azure Dev Tools

Azure Dev Tools for Teaching is a Microsoft initiative to support technical education, allowing students and teaching staff in science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) programs to download a range of fully licensed development tools and software for free and install them onto personally owned devices for teaching and learning purposes.

Autodesk

Autodesk is a leader in 3D design, engineering and entertainment software. Students and educators can get one-year free educational access to Autodesk products and services on the Autodesk Education Plan, and access is renewable as long as you remain eligible. The software must be used solely for educational purposes and not for commercial, professional or other for-profit purposes. You can download the Autodesk Free Education Software by registering as an individual using your ECU email address.

MATLAB

MATLAB is a programming and numeric computing platform used by engineers and scientists to analyse data, develop algorithms and create models. Staff and students can access MATLAB and available toolboxes, and download to their personal devices. This software is only for learning, teaching and research purposes and commercial use is not permitted.

SPSS Grad Packs - Hearne Software

Students can purchase discounted IBM SPSS Grad Pack licenses through Hearne Software, who also offer live support 24/7. Use the coupon code 'ECU2019' or ‘ECUStudent’ to get 10% off any SPSS Grad Pack.

MindMeister

MindMeister is a brainstorming software available to all ECU staff and students. It allows you to easily plan out your thoughts as a mind map and is handy for essay writing, brainstorming and any task where organising information is important.
