Once Research Assessments has received your final digital thesis and required documents (see below) your student record will be changed to pass. At the next Progression Panel meeting you’ll be considered for course completion.
After the Progression Panel has cleared you to graduate, the award of Doctor of Philosophy will be conferred on you. You’ll be sent a letter congratulating you on passing the research degree, along with information about graduation.
After the thesis has been examined and corrections to the thesis have been made and approved, you must provide the following to Research Assessments, Student Administration:
Research Assessments, Student Administration Centre will send a digital copy of the entire thesis to the ECU Library.
The Library will deposit the digital master for permanent retention in the University archives. Electronic full text copies of theses will be made available to all ECU staff and students via the Library Catalogue (password protected) and to the wider community via the institutional repository (open access).
The submission of a thesis by a candidate authorises ECU to make it available for the purpose of private study and research via library loan, document delivery and inclusion in online digital repositories such as Research Online.
For more information visit the Library Service's Submit a thesis webpage.
A non-standard thesis comprises a text component (exegesis) plus supporting material (e.g. book, CD-ROM, DVD). After a thesis has been examined and corrections have been made and approved if required, you should submit a digital copy of the entire thesis (text component and, if applicable, any supporting material in digital form) in an electronic format approved by the ECU Library to Research Assessments.
You’ll be sent the graduation information once your record is changed to ‘Course Complete’ following clearance from the Progression Panel. You’ll also be sent further information closer to your ceremony.
You’re no longer required to submit hard copies of your thesis to the library for retention. However, you may choose to have copies of your thesis bound for yourself, your supervisor(s) and possibly other people involved in your research project. Download the Thesis binding standards for more information.
