SOAR Centre
Part of the Centre for Learning and Teaching, our SOAR Centre (Support – Opportunities – Advice – Resources) is a free, peer-to-peer service open to all higher degree by research and honours candidates.
We provide support and information with a focus on research skills training and career development.

At the core of the service are our SOAR Peer Advisers. These higher degree by research candidates offer one-to-one appointments and group workshops on a variety of topics to support you through your research journey. Peer Advisers are also available for a chat about anything to do with your research or candidate experience.
You can meet with Peer Advisers via video-conference or in person for one-to-one support, or in group workshops.

Become a SOAR Peer Adviser
Each semester the SOAR Centre employs up to 10 higher degree by research candidates as Peer Advisers. Being a Peer Adviser allows you to get paid while you gain valuable personal and professional development alongside your research degree.
SOAR sessions
SOAR sessions are group workshops on a variety of topics relating to your research journey. During these sessions SOAR Peer Advisers share their own experiences and you are encouraged to join in by asking questions and sharing your own knowledge.
