Excellence in Research for Australia (ERA)

ERA is an initiative of the Federal Government to evaluate the quality of research undertaken by Australian higher education institutions. ERA is administered by the Australian Research Council (ARC).

There have been four ERA rounds, in 2010, 2012, 2015 and 2018. Future rounds are being considered in the context of the Government’s response to the Australian Universities Accord.  The ARC’s ERA website will be updated when information about the new Research Evaluation Framework is available.

ECU's ERA Time Series Report

NOTE: If attempting to access these documents via Wi-Fi or external to ECU, you will need to connect to ECU using the Cisco VPN client.

The ERA Time Series Report presents a comparison of ECU submission data and ratings outcomes from all four rounds of ERA. The focus of the report is on the Fields of Research (FoRs) that were assessed (i.e. met the relevant minimum threshold of research outputs to be evaluated) and on key differences between rounds. The report is divided into two sections:

Part A: Overview of the ERA process, how ERA is assessed, and institutional-level outcomes

Part B: Summaries of ERA data and outcomes for two-digit and four-digit FoRs

This report was last updated on 3 September 2019.

Please note that these reports are confidential and are for ECU internal use only.

ERA 2018 Explanatory Statements

Explanatory Statements for each of the 2-digit ANZSRC Field of Research codes assessed as part of ECU’s submission for ERA-2018 can be found below. Confidential for ECU Internal Use only.
