ERA is an initiative of the Federal Government to evaluate the quality of research undertaken by Australian higher education institutions. ERA is administered by the Australian Research Council (ARC).
There have been four ERA rounds, in 2010, 2012, 2015 and 2018. Future rounds are being considered in the context of the Government’s response to the Australian Universities Accord. The ARC’s ERA website will be updated when information about the new Research Evaluation Framework is available.

The ERA Time Series Report presents a comparison of ECU submission data and ratings outcomes from all four rounds of ERA. The focus of the report is on the Fields of Research (FoRs) that were assessed (i.e. met the relevant minimum threshold of research outputs to be evaluated) and on key differences between rounds.
