The ARC Discovery Project Grant scheme now runs a two-stage application process, commencing with an Expression of Interest (EOI). Shortlisted applicants will be invited to submit a full application.
ARC Discovery Project scheme provides grant funding to research projects undertaken by individuals or teams. The intended outcome of the Discovery Program is to contribute to the growth of Australia's research and innovation capacity by generating new knowledge and leads to the development of new technologies, products, ideas, job creation, economic growth, and enhanced Australian quality of life.

The scheme provides funding between $30,000 and $500,000 per year for up to five (5) consecutive years.
The Australian Research Council Act 2001 (amended 2024) excludes the use of ARC funding for activities classified as ‘experimental development’. The updated advice clarifies that experimental development research may be included in an application, where these activities are to be funded from non-ARC sources. The application must make clear this differentiation.
