Funding databases

ECU provides a variety of resources to assist researchers in identifying potential funding opportunities.

Edith Cowan University subscribes to *Research Professional, an online database of open research funding opportunities. This subscription enables you to search for available content and set up email alerts to stay informed on new opportunities in your areas of interest.

You can access your account at Edith Cowan University on www.researchprofessional.com.  You will be given two options. On the left, you can link your account to your university login details, allowing you to log in with them in the future. On the right, you can create a personal *Research Professional password which you can use to access your account.

Research Services' Research Administration Coordinators (RACs) can provide either one-to-one training at your desk or small group training about Research Professional. Please contact research-preaward@ecu.edu.au if you would like to organise this.

SPIN is a funding opportunities database with detailed and up-to-the minute information about thousands of national and international funding opportunities. New and existing opportunities are updated daily and every opportunity is reviewed regularly to ensure details are current.

Researchers can search for opportunities that are relevant to their interests and results can be filtered. Email alerts can easily be setup to automatically deliver updates to your email inbox.

Accessing SPIN

SPIN is accessed from within the ECU Research Management System (ECURMS) by clicking the Funding Opportunities menu item. Accessing SPIN via the ECURMS will automatically log you in as an ECU user without the need to create a separate profile.

Further information

The site has help features which detail how to use the database and customise your searches. There is also a basic search help guide available from the Help menu located in the top right corner of the main search screen along with training guides and videos.

Research Weekly is a Research Services e-newsletter published each Monday. It contains information relevant to all ECU research staff and students, including funding and award opportunities, research news, information about master classes, presentations and training workshops. To stay up-to-date with research news and services, click follow the Research Weekly SharePoint to be notified via your MS Teams feed when new articles are published and receive an email digest of anything you may have missed.

Discipline Specific Searches

Research Professional is an online database of funding opportunities. As an ECU staff member or student, you are free to access the content on Research Professional. You can create customised searches of funding opportunities and share this information with your colleagues as well as set up alerts directly to your email inbox when new opportunities arise.
