As ECU seeks to improve the quality of our research grant submissions, leading to improved success rates, Research Services will facilitate a program of Pre-Assessment for ECU-led Fellowship applications to the major National Health and Medical Research Council (NHMRC) and Australian Research Council (ARC) grant schemes.
ARC DECRA, Future Fellowship and NHMRC Investigator Grant scheme submissions will require to undergo a pre-assessment screening by members of ECU Research Professoriate Group and/or School Associate Deans of Research. This will be by way of a Stage 1 Expression of Interest which includes a brief description of their proposed project (aims, background, proposed study, significance and supporting data) and a copy of their CV (ideally formatted to align with the grant scheme requirement). Templates can be found on our intranet under the scheme page.
Where funds permit, ECU Strategic Research Fund will pay for an external review of your application approx. 8 weeks prior to closing date. These reviews will be returned to CIs within a week.
Please note this will only be offered to applicants who have undergone the ECU pre-assessment.
CIs submit the final version of their application to their respective Research Administration Coordinator (research-preaward@ecu.edu.au) who will check for administrative and technical eligibility, including project costings, and final review prior to submission.
The Strategic Research Funds will cover the salary shortfall for ARC and NHMRC Fellowships. See Strategic Research Funding Guidelines for more information.
