Researchers are expected to publish and disseminate their research findings. This is an essential part of the research process and is required to inform other researchers, professional practitioners and the wider community. Outputs also form an important part of the suite of performance indicators.
Research Services load ECU affiliated research outputs into the Research Activity System (RAS) every February, May, August and November. Research outputs are sourced from Scopus and Web of Science citation databases. Researchers are notified via email to confirm authorship, validate Field of Research (FoR) and Socio-Economic Objective (SEO) coding and provide a copy of the work if required.
Researchers can also directly enter their own research outputs in RAS. Researchers must enter their research outputs which are unlikely to be indexed in the external citation databases, including creative arts research outputs. RAS is accessible from the Student and Staff Portal. There are a number of resources available on the RAS WebApps page to assist, including short training videos.

Outputs from RAS are regularly transferred into Research Online, which is the publicly accessible, permanent and searchable digital repository of research outputs produced by staff, postgraduate students and affiliated authors of Edith Cowan University. Other outputs can be deposited directly to the repository on a voluntary basis.
