ECU’s WHS assurance processes monitor the University’s WHS Management system to evaluate it’s implementation and effectiveness and includes a program of both independent and internal Workplace Safety Audits and Focus Area Deep Dive reviews
The WHS Audits Inspection and Monitoring Procedure outlines the responsibilities and processes associated with this WHS assurance program.
A three-year rolling WHS Audit Schedule has been developed and can be viewed under "Downloads".
Workplace inspections are used to identify hazards and report them before they cause an incident.
Inspections are undertaken regularly throughout our campuses and ECU owned facilities and are generally undertaken by the manager of an area, in consultation with the elected safety and health representative. Reports are made to the local health and safety committee. The Workplace inspection guideline (under "See Also) provides further details on this process including recommended inspection frequencies.
