Revision and re-submission (Level D)

University Rules: Admission, Enrolment and Academic Progress Rules covers the conditions for re-examination, or resubmission.

In cases where examiners recommend revision and re-submission of the thesis, you have the right to expect a clear written statement detailing errors and deficiencies provided by the examiner to assist in your revision. Please note:

  • You may not re-submit a thesis more than once for examination.
  • A revised thesis must be submitted for re-examination within 12 months of the date on which the original examination was completed.
  • You must re-enrol in the appropriate thesis unit(s) during the period of revision.
  • As part of your resubmission, you must provide a:
    • Copy of the examiner’s or examiners’ written statement on errors and deficiencies.
    • A listing of changes made to the thesis as a consequence of the examiner’s criticisms.
    • Copy of the thesis as originally submitted (should it be requested by examiners).

Once your supervisor has confirmed they are satisfied with your amendments, you are required to:

  1. Upload your thesis/exegesis directly to your unique SharePoint link in your ECU student email account which you used to upload your initial thesis submission.
  2. Complete the “Revise and Resubmit Thesis Submission Form” with your supervisor and ensure the Associate Dean Research within your school has complete the relevant section of the form.
  3. Email your completed “Revise and Resubmit Thesis Submission Form” to Research Assessments at researchassessments@ecu.edu.au.

Support

Revising your thesis for resubmission can be a daunting task. In addition to your supervisor, you may wish to seek support and advice from the research and writing consultants in the Centre of Learning and Teaching.
