Research area

Kinley is a PhD Candidate at the School of Arts and Humanities, Edith Cowan University at Joondalup campus. His research titled “The effects of COVID-19 pandemic in Bhutan: Retrospect and prospect for people, progress and prosperity” aims to inform policies and practices to enhance well-being in Bhutan in the post-pandemic period and identify strategies to remain prepared to navigate similar crises in the future. Besides the PhD research project, Kinley is actively involved in other research projects exploring the areas of well-being, leadership, and the use of artificial intelligence in promoting sustainable development.

Background

Kinley completed his Master of Public Policy and a Graduate Diploma in Public Administration from the Australian National University. He was also a Fullbright scholar under the Hubert H. Humphrey Fellowship Programme from 2017-2018 at Pennsylvania State University, Pennsylvania, United States of America. In addition, Kinley achieved his Postgraduate Certificate in Development Management from the Royal Institute of Management and a B.A. in Geography (Hons) from Delhi University. Kinley served as a public servant in Bhutan for close to two decades after being selected through the highly coveted civil service selection examinations in 2002. He resigned as a Chief Planning Officer at the Royal University of Bhutan, Bhutan, in August 2022 to pursue his PhD. Back home, he was primarily responsible for coordinating the formulation and implementation of various long-term and short-term plans at the Royal University of Bhutan. He was also actively involved in driving transformation initiatives at both the university and national levels. With the heart to serve the community, he also engages actively in voluntary services.
