The conduct of research activities involving human or animal participants is governed by ethics guidelines contained in legislation and policies. Researchers conducting research projects that involve human participants, previously collected confidential data or the use of animals need to have an understanding of the guidelines that are contained in legislation and policy. The Research Misconduct Policy establishes a framework for dealing with breaches of the Australian code for the responsible conduct of research (Code) and research misconduct, and the appropriate action in the event of an allegation of a breach of the Code or research misconduct.
