Involving Legal Services in a matter

There are certain legal matters which should be referred to us for review and advice and others which may not need to be referred to us. These are called Exempt Matters.

Clarification of which matters should be referred to us and which matters are exempt are set out in the Legal and Integrity Service Guidelines. If you are unsure whether your agreement or issue should be referred, please contact us to discuss.

How to involve us

To request our services, please direct your enquiry, together with any associated documentation or background information, to the Manager, Legal and Integrity and Associate General Counsel by:

Telephone: (61 8) 6304 2158
E-mail: legalservices@ecu.edu.au

When we receive your request for legal services we will register a new matter, allocate it to a lawyer for attention and deal with it quickly and efficiently.

If your matter is urgent, please indicate this, including the reason/s why, in your instructions.

Advice from external lawyers

We should always be involved when ECU seeks advice from external lawyers. For more information, download the Legal and Integrity Service Guidelines, or refer to our Common Queries web page.

Not sure what to do?

If you're unsure about how to proceed, or complete the form, or you’d like to make an appointment to discuss your matter with one of our lawyers, please email: legalservices@ecu.edu.au
