Strategic and Governance Services (SGS) provides leadership, advice, and support across governance, planning, performance, risk, compliance, and legal services. Working closely with ECU's Council, senior leaders, schools, and professional service centres, SGS helps drive informed decision-making, strengthen accountability, and support the achievement of the University's strategic objectives.

Our Services

Academic Quality and Standards supports ECU's Excellence Framework by providing expert advice, coordination, and quality assurance services across course approval, accreditation, curriculum management, and academic review processes. AQS works closely with schools and stakeholders to ensure courses meet regulatory requirements, maintain high academic standards, and support continuous improvement across the University. The team also provides guidance on academic policies, professional accreditation, external compliance obligations, post-nominals, and academic prizes.

Enterprise Risk supports the University Council, senior executives, schools, professional service centres, and key stakeholders in making informed decisions through a clear understanding of risks and opportunities across the University. As part of the Strategic and Governance Services Centre (SGSC), the team provides timely advice and strategic oversight to help ECU achieve its goals in a complex and evolving environment. Enterprise Risk leads the University's risk management, audit and assurance, business continuity and critical incident management, and insurance programs, helping to strengthen resilience, accountability, and effective governance across the University.

Legal and Integrity provides expert advice and support on legal matters, complaints management, integrity, and regulatory compliance across the University.  The team helps promote ethical decision-making, manage risk, strengthen governance practices, and ensure compliance with legislative and regulatory requirements.

To support access to governance information, the ECU Legislation and Policy Search Directory offers a centralised, user-friendly resource for University statutes, rules, by-laws, policies, and related governance documents, enabling staff and stakeholders to quickly locate the information they need.

Survey Services administers ECU's major student and graduate surveys, ensuring high-quality data collection and analysis while supporting quality assurance, reporting requirements, and continuous improvement across the University.

Strategic Information Services (SIS) provides data, forecasting, benchmarking, and institutional research to support strategic planning and operational decision-making. The team also prepares statutory reporting for Commonwealth and Western Australian government agencies.

The Senior Analysts team delivers strategic analysis and reporting to support senior leaders and Council. By monitoring external trends and policy developments, the team helps inform University planning and decision-making, while also coordinating performance reporting, policy submissions, statutory returns, international rankings submissions, and grant acquittals.

University Governance provides corporate governance expertise and guidance across the University and functions as the secretariat for the University Council, bodies reporting to Council and the University Executive.
