ECU’s Research Services plays a key role in building the university’s research profile.

Research Services provides services to support and encourage our research community, including administration of external and internal research funding schemes, data collection, management and reporting, exploring commercialisation opportunities, industry liaison and promotion of research achievements.

Research journey

The research journey web pages will guide you through the six stages of a typical research project – from looking for funding opportunities, to publishing your work.

The stages are:

  • Getting started;
  • Sourcing funding;
  • Completing pre-research award tasks;
  • Managing your research award;
  • Completing your project; and
  • Knowledge transfer.

Research funding

There are many sources of research funding available both in Australia and overseas. Discover where to look for funding, the various types available and detailed information on how to apply and the resources available.

Research performance

ECU is committed to undertaking high-quality research which has strong social, economic, environmental and cultural impact.

To monitor achievement of these goals, research performance data are collected and collated for internal and external reporting purposes, for example HERDC and ERA.

Commercialisation

Research Services' assists researchers to assess their inventions for commercial potential, providing guidance on intellectual property protection and the process of translating a research outcome into a marketable product or service.

Research Integrity Professional Learning (RIPL)

ECU offers all staff and HDR students access to its Research Integrity Professional Learning (RIPL) program which:

  • Describes the principles and responsibilities required under The Code;
  • Sets out ECU’s approach to research integrity; and
  • Provides an opportunity to hear from other researchers and reflect on “What does Research Integrity mean to you”?

Training workshops and events

Professional development programs can be undertaken through workshops and seminars, online courses, professional experience, collaboration, networking, mentoring and independent study. Find a list of researcher development opportunities offered across ECU and from external providers, including HDR Supervisor Training via our SharePoint website.
