TEQSA

Australia’s tertiary education system is regulated by the Tertiary Education Quality and Standards Authority (TEQSA), an independent national regulatory body which was established under the Tertiary Education Quality and Standards Agency Act 2011 (TEQSA Act).

ECU is registered as a Self-Accrediting Authority, and is responsible for ensuring compliance with the Higher Education Standards Framework (Threshold Standards) 2021 (HES Framework) in all aspects of our higher education operations. The HES Framework is the minimum level of achievement that a provider must meet and maintain to be registered to provide higher education courses of study. The HES Framework covers seven Domains which align with the student lifecycle, and include:

On 17 April 2019 TEQSA renewed ECU’s registration as an Australian University, for a period of seven years until 17 April 2026, without conditions.

Three areas of strength were highlighted in TEQSA’s decision:

  • a strong focus on student achievement;
  • a comprehensive policy framework for assuring academic and research quality and integrity, which incorporates the use of external referencing; and
  • the provision of a high quality educational experience, and increasing strength in research performance.

ECU’s Provider Registration information can be found on the TEQSA website.

If you have any questions about the HESF please contact aqs@ecu.edu.au or on extension 5678.
