Video advice and YouTube upload requests

How to create a new video

Unsure about how to create a new video? Contact your Marketing Account Manager to find out where to start.

  • Before a video can be embedded on the ECU website, it must first be uploaded to the ECU YouTube channel.
  • If a video has already been added to the ECU YouTube channel, please see the  WebCMS How-to guides and other resources webpage.
  • There may be instances where it’s not appropriate to upload a video to the ECU YouTube channel, see the list below for alternative hosting options.

Alternative hosting options

YouTube: Centre for Learning & Teaching (CLT) administer an unlisted YouTube channel:

  • The link to the channel is not accessible, for reference it is https://www.youtube.com/ecuelearning
  • Videos uploaded to it can be public, however the channel page itself is not viewable.
  • Videos can be linked into ECU webpages and Canvas. We suggest you contact the Centre for Learning & Teaching (CLT) to discuss your requirements.

ECU YouTube channel requests

Complete the form below to upload, delete or replace a video on ECU’s YouTube channel. Before you complete this request, please ensure that your video is suitable for the ECU YouTube channel by reviewing the guidelines below.

Guidelines for uploading videos to ECU’s YouTube channel

The main audience for this channel is prospective students and the wider community. Content should be suitable for public consumption and relevant to these audiences.

Content should:

  • Enhance, reflect and reinforce the University brand and brand model
  • Be representative of the University and the calibre of its courses, students, staff, support services, teaching and research
  • Raise the profile of the University and its activities across our prospective student audiences and the wider community
  • Enrich and support the University’s other recruitment activity

ECU should either:

  • Own the copyright of the video, or
  • Be granted a license giving permission for the content to be uploaded to ECU’s YouTube channel

Examples of suitable content (this list is not exhaustive):

  • Student testimonials
  • Student work
  • Presentations given by ECU researchers/research students, e.g. videos of ECU’s 3MT competition presentations
  • Guest Lectures at ECU events
