Overview

ECU’s Graduate Research Services works to enhance the quality of the research experience and culture for research master and doctoral candidates, their supervisors and schools.

We provide a variety of support and development services, including face-to-face and online training, seminars, academic events and social activities.

Research journey

The research journey web pages will guide you through the many steps from your initial enrolment until you have completed your research degree. These pages provide information for research candidates, supervisors and research support staff.

The stages of the research journey include:

  • Provisional candidature;
  • Confirmation of candidature;
  • Undertaking  your research;
  • Writing and presenting your research;
  • Thesis examination; and
  • Graduation

SOAR Centre

Part of the Centre for Learning and Teaching, our SOAR Centre (Support – Opportunities – Advice – Resources) is a free, peer-to-peer service open to all higher degree by research and honours candidates.

We provide support and information with a focus on research skills training and career development.

Our services include:

  • peer-to-peer appointments for research skills development and support;
  • access and assistance with career guidance software;
  • help for building your career development plan; and
  • interactive workshops

Research workshops and resources

In addition to the training, resources and consultation services provided by your school, Research Services offers cross-discipline skills training and resources to all higher degree by research candidates and honours candidates.

This includes:

  • interactive workshops;
  • online research skills courses;
  • research software; and
  • database access to eBooks, journals and theses
