The SOAR Centre is run by skilled Ambassadors who are also research candidates. They offer knowledge and experience developed through their own research journey. You can meet with Ambassadors in our SOAR Centre for one-to-one support or group workshops.

As a researcher, you will encounter challenges that may require extra help. In addition to the support offered by your supervisor, school and the Graduate Research School’s Research Training Program, the ten SOAR Ambassadors have a variety of research skills to provide you with the support you need. Our SOAR Ambassadors are trained in cultural awareness and transition issues and are happy to listen to your stories and discuss your situation. Ambassadors may refer you to other services provided at ECU that may also help you.
Our Ambassadors have been trained to use an innovative career guidance tool called CareerWorks™ The tool, which is available in the SOAR Centre, helps you develop a comprehensive career plan.
Ambassadors are also fully conversant in PebblePad, for use as an e-portfolio tool and also for MyPLAN.

The SOAR Centre works closely with other services at ECU, for example Career Services, Student Counselling, Library Services, and research and writing consultants. If needed, Ambassadors can refer you to any of these services.
