What is CPP?

The Commonwealth Prac Payment (CPP) is an Australian Government payment that helps eligible students manage the financial impact of completing mandatory placements as part of their course.

CPP may be available to eligible students studying approved Teaching, Nursing, Midwifery and Social Work courses who are undertaking mandatory placements as part of their degree.

Payment rates are benchmarked to the single Austudy rate and are updated annually on 1 January.

Who can receive CPP?

CPP is available to eligible students undertaking approved placements in:

  • Teaching
  • Nursing
  • Midwifery
  • Social Work

How much is CPP?

2026 payment rate

  • $338.60 per week

2025 payment rate

  • $331.65 per week

Payment rates are benchmarked to the single Austudy rate and are reviewed annually by the Australian Government.

Important

  • CPP is only available for eligible students undertaking eligible placements.
  • Meeting the placement requirements does not automatically guarantee eligibility.
  • Applications are assessed in accordance with Australian Government requirements.
