Courses are run by the Centre for Learning and Development (CLD), Graduate Research School (GRS), Office of Research and Innovation (ORI) and external providers.
Reach Your Potential is our orientation forum. Understanding where you fit into the bigger picture when working at ECU is vital in understanding how you contribute to ECU's mission, vision and strategic priorities. This informal forum will provide you with an opportunity to meet some of the members of the Senior Executive Team and network with other staff over lunch. All new teaching staff (sessional or ongoing), regardless of prior teaching experience, are required to attend this three hour workshop prior to commencing teaching at ECU. This workshop introduces staff to the specific teaching context and culture of ECU, including ECU's aims, strategies and student profiles. This one semester course over a 14 week period (36 hours total participation time) is designed for new academic staff with part-time or full-time ongoing contracts or academics seeking to refresh their teaching skills. PDC113 commences with a one day workshop with an overview of teaching and learning at university, managing and assessing learning and evaluating teaching; followed by a planned teaching development program divided into two teaching and learning related three hour workshops; and the development of a learning portfolio.
