Category 1 Competitive Grants formal review process

There is strong evidence across all Australian universities that applications have a much higher chance of successful funding following extensive peer-review prior to submission. This, coupled with a process which includes screening of proposed applications, and not supporting the submission of sub-standard applications to funding bodies, will be undertaken.

To ensure that researchers are submitting the most competitive grant application possible, the following steps and timelines have been introduced.

  • Provide an up-to-date CV and sections A1-A4 of the application form for distribution to DVCR and selection panel members to review and assess competitiveness.
  • External peer review to be conducted.
  • Final draft for review to DVCR by 6 February 2019.
  • Given the introduction of National Interest Test statement, Corporate Communications Department will review the relevant sections.
  • Final draft to Research Services by 10 working days prior to submission to allow for administrative review, budget checks and ADR approvals. – 13 February 2019. Applications will not be accepted after this date.
