Strategic positioning

The Strategy and Performance Unit monitors the external environment for changes that will impact on the University's planning, development and sustainability. The Unit analyses economic, social, demographic, political and legislative impacts and provides briefings and reports to the Senior Leadership Team and Council to help inform strategy and planning for the future.  The Unit also makes submissions on behalf of ECU to contribute to consultations on policy/legislative change and to discharge statutory reporting requirements.

SGSC Newswatch

The SGSC Newswatch newsletter provides a snapshot of information of interest to the University community. This includes policy developments by Government and other changes in the external environment impacting on tertiary delivery.

A briefing is prepared for each State and Commonwealth budget release focusing on impacts to the University.

Submissions

The Strategy and Performance Unit prepares submissions to government on behalf of the University on a wide range of policy issues.

Typically submissions are in response to requests for feedback on discussion papers for policy change affecting higher education and vocational education and training.

Submissions are made to government agencies, regulatory bodies, consultancies and other external bodies such as Universities Australia.

ECU’s submissions are usually published on the relevant consultation website.
