ECU Active

ECU Active is a relaxed, low-commitment program designed to help students and staff move more, more often. Launched in 2025, it brings recreation and informal activity to the forefront—making it easy to get involved, try something new, and stay active around uni life.

In 2025, ECU Active piloted initiatives such as a walk/run/roll group and a collaboration with Portside Boulders, alongside other drop-in campus activations.

Get involved

ECU Active is free and open to all students and staff.
Sign up as an ECU Active member to stay up to date with activities and opportunities.

ECU Run Club is a new inclusive community targeting students and staff of all fitness levels.

Enjoy some light movement amongst your peers along with a free coffee afterwards at Slice of Italy!

Weekly Sessions (in semester) | Thursdays 7:00am - 8:30am | Meeting out the front of Building 17 & 19 at ECU Joondalup

ECU are working together with UWA to bring you a free water awareness program! This is the perfect place to build confidence in and around the water.

Designed for those with little or no swimming experience, it covers essential water safety, basic swimming techniques, and simple rescue skills.

In Semester 1 2026, the program will run on Fridays 1st May through to 29th May at the UWA Aquatic Centre, Crawley. Transport will be made available for program participants from ECU Joondalup.

Another intake will be made available in Semester 2, 2026.

ECU are excited to offer a Learn to Ride to Uni Program in collaboration with RAC and People on Bicycles.

Whether you're looking to learn a new skill, make some friends, save some money or save the environment; we're excited to have you along for the ride!

We're offering workshops to suit all skill levels - from bike beginners to seasoned cyclers! Cruise the road with confidence at one of our Learn to Ride to Uni workshop or get handy learning to fix your bike.

ECU will continue a collaboration with Portside Boulders Joondalup in 2026. Offering free monthly meet-ups and discounted walk-in sessions for ECU Active members.

The monthly meet-ups will take place on:

  • Wednesday March 4 from 4pm
  • Wednesday April 1 from 4pm
  • Wednesday May 6 from 4pm
  • Wednesday June 3 from 4pm

The ECU Strava Club is a new way for students to stay active and connected throughout the semester - we'll run both virtual and in-person events through this platform.

Open to all fitness levels and abilities, the club encourages walking, running and other movement at your own pace with optional challenges to keep you motivated. It's a relaxed, flexible way to build healthy habits, stay accountable and be part of the ECU community wherever you are.
