Short Courses information for staff

You will need the following information prior to publishing ECU Short Courses online.

What you will need

  • Course title
  • Course overview
    • One or two short paragraphs outlining general terms what the course cover
  • Why is this course for you
    • Benefits to the participants
  • Mode of Delivery
    • Face-to-Face
    • Online (via Canvas Short Courses LMS)
    • Hybrid (Face-to-Face and online)
  • Details regarding the course
    • Dates
    • Duration
    • Venues (if applicable)
    • Confirmed facilitator availability on nominated dates and/or instructor for online offering
  • Minimum and maximum number of participants
  • Cost per person per course
    • This should be confirmed by your finance manager. It is a requirement for ECU’s short courses to be competitively neutral. Your school finance manager will be able to advise
    • The cost centre the funds should be allocated to, approved by the finance manager
  • Approval from Executive Dean and Associate Dean Discipline
  • Complete the Short Courses PDF form

Genius Student Information System

Genius Student Information System (SIS) manages the registration process, controls enrolments, provides information to managers and instructors via a Management Dashboard, tracks learner progress, improves communication with learners, and offers dynamic reporting capabilities that immensely facilitate the management of teaching and learning initiatives in a complex teaching and learning environment.

Genius integrates with the Short Courses Learning Management System, Canvas. Genius SIS also integrates with other applications like OneStop to exchange information and keep data synchronised.

Canvas

Canvas is the Learning Management System (LMS) used at ECU for short courses. Canvas provides a personalised learner experience with intuitive navigation, streamlined workflows with mobile-friendly device support.
