Stay on track with your studies by making the most of all the support services available to you.

What support is there if I have a disability, learning challenge or medical issue?

There's heaps of support availabe in this area from services, to workshops and courses, and tips sheets you can download for advice.

Managing Stress

ECU's Manager of Psychological Counselling Support, Paul Przytula, provides some insight on stress.

"Some stress is positive – it gives us the motivation and energy to engage in challenges. Too much, however, can lead to panic, burnout and other negative effects. If you’re feeling stressed, check that you have a plan for study and activities to support your wellbeing, and seek support from those around you."

Balancing, life, study, work, the dog or cat, family, friends and relationships can be quite challenging.

Sometimes life just happens and it all gets a bit much. This is where the Psychological Counselling Support is here to help you stay on the path to success with your studies while balancing everything else.

ECU provides a free, confidential counselling service to all currently enrolled ECU students residing in Australia to address any personal issues that may be impacting your studies. You can also download helpful tip sheets for managing common concerns when studying. ECU has Access and Inclusion which provides support to students with diverse study needs.

This service is particularly for students with a permanent or temporary disability and/or medical condition which may impact on their participation at ECU, or those who care for a family member or whose cultural or religious practices may impact on course requirements and others in specific circumstances on a case-by-case basis. They can also provide advice on equity or diversity issues you may like to discuss.

Counselling Workshops and Groups

Throughout the semester the psychological counseling team offer workshops on stress management, dealing with procrastination and preparing for exams, as well as running a serious of groups to support people with anxiety and ADHD.  Read more about them or sign up for one of the sessions via the events section in your Student Portal.
