On 31 March, the Future Students Engagement team held the Educators and Influencers Day.

The annual event held at the Joondalup Campus was a great opportunity for career counsellors and educators to hear about the latest developments at ECU, network, take part in workshops, talk to our Future Student Engagements team and academics, and more.

This year’s Educators and Influencers Day showcased the very best of our ECU community.

The day began with the launch of our newly established Student Ambassador Recruits Program (STARs), where participants of the STAR program shared their student journey with guests.

Guests also heard from a range of ECU Professional and Academic Staff and ECU Alumni including:

  • Team Leader – Student Ambassador Program, Ginetta Papaluca who recruited, selected and trained the first group of STARs
  • ECU Alumni, Luke Connelly who shared his career journey in marketing
  • Team Leader – Future Student Engagements, Leisha Hartley who presented on what’s new at ECU, including our Early Offers program for 2024 enrolments
  • Director, Access and Equity, Dr Fiona Navin who spoke on inclusive practice at ECU and support for students
  • Executive Dean, School of Education Professor Caroline Mansfield and Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Education) Professor Rowena Harper who presented on how ECU is responding to generative AI and the implications for employability, embracing the ECU values of Rational Inquiry and Courage

Concluding the morning presentations was an open conversation between Lecturer, Access and Equity, Academic Pathway Programs, Selena Tenakov and Senior Lecturer, Access and Equity and Course Coordinator UniPrep, Dr Angela Jones on co-agency and how we can explore valued and meaningful partnerships for the future.

The afternoon enabled everyone to explore the campus and its facilities and meet Senior Executives and Academics from our ECU Schools.
