We’re ‘here to hear’ this R U OK? Day

Tuesday, 05 September 2023

Tags:

Thursday 14 September is R U OK? Day and the ECU community is hosting a range of events and giving out freebies and treats all designed to get the conversation started.

R U OK? contributes to suicide prevention efforts by encouraging people to invest more time in their personal relationships – friends, family and colleagues - to be alert to those around them to  identify signs of distress or difficulty and connect someone to appropriate support, long before they're in crisis.

You don’t need to be a professional or an expert to have a warm and meaningful conversation. Just follow R U OK?’s 4 step process:

  1. Ask R U OK?
  2. Listen with an open mind
  3. Encourage action
  4. Check in

For information on how to learn the signs and ask R U OK? head over to the R U OK? website.
