Wear It Purple Day 2026: Celebrating the Colours of Courage

Thursday, 20 August 2026

Wear It Purple Day will be held on Friday, 28 August 2026, with this year's inspiring theme: “Colours of Courage.”

What is Wear It Purple Day?

Wear It Purple Day began in 2010 to support LGBTQIA+ young people and promote safe, inclusive, and accepting environments. Since then, it has grown into a nationwide movement involving schools, universities, workplaces, and communities across Australia and beyond.

The simple act of wearing purple sends a powerful message: LGBTQIA+ young people are seen, valued, supported, and celebrated.

The 2026 Theme: Colours of Courage

The 2026 theme, Colours of Courage, recognises that courage comes in many forms. It is not only found in landmark moments or public acts of advocacy. It is also found in everyday decisions to live authentically, support others, ask for help, speak up against discrimination, and create spaces where everyone belongs.

Show your support by donning some purple garb on Friday!
