Wear It Purple Day began in 2010 to support LGBTQIA+ young people and promote safe, inclusive, and accepting environments. Since then, it has grown into a nationwide movement involving schools, universities, workplaces, and communities across Australia and beyond.
The 2026 theme, Colours of Courage, recognises that courage comes in many forms. It is not only found in landmark moments or public acts of advocacy. It is also found in everyday decisions to live authentically, support others, ask for help, speak up against discrimination, and create spaces where everyone belongs.
Show your support by donning some purple garb on Friday!
You can also explore our other free social events across Semester 2. Open to all ECU students, these events offer opportunities to make friends, enjoy free snacks, and discover student support services.
