November marks Pride Month in Western Australia, a time to celebrate the diversity, visibility and strength of LGBTIQA+ communities.
This year, ECU will again be taking part in PrideFEST events through Pride WA as well as hosting and collaborating on some of our own events.
We encourage you to get involved, learn something new and stand proudly alongside colleagues and students who continue to champion inclusion every day. You can also explore the broader program of Pride activities in November coordinated by Pride WA here.
Saturday 16 November, 9.00am at Elizabeth Quay
Join Perth Frontrunners’ free Pride Run & Walk! Choose a 3km/5km walk or 7km run over the EQ bridge along the Derbarl Yerrigan, finishing at the PFR Festival Zone with music, food/coffee, stalls and the Queer Quokka. Walk, run, roll or bring your pet – rainbow outfits encouraged!

Thursday 20 November, 7.00pm at The Rechabite, Northbridge
ECU partners with Rainbow Futures WA and Youth Pride Network to present Walkern Wirin – a WA Pride celebration of First Nations LGBTIQA+ moort. Meaning “Rainbow Spirit” in Noongar, it honours mob and their moort (family, friends and allies). Supported by ECU alum Narelda Jacobs, with performances, a Boorloo Blak Pride Quiz and Blak DJs.

Sunday 23 November, 10.00am - 8.00pm (stalls 10.00am - 4.00pm) at Supreme Court Gardens, Perth
ECU will once again be part of Perth Pride Fest Fairday - a vibrant day of community celebration, stalls and performances. ECU returns to Perth PrideFEST Fairday – a vibrant day of community, stalls and performances. Visit our stall for all-day activities: meet wellbeing dogs Edi and Watson, make a smoothie with our blender bike, get a quick health check and more.

Saturday 29 November, Northbridge
Join ECU in marching in the Perth Pride Parade in the heart of Boorloo (Perth). This year, we’re bringing our biggest float to date – a vibrant show of colour, pride, and community as we stand alongside thousands of others celebrating the wonderfully diverse LGBTIQA+ community.
Come be part of the celebration as we light up the streets with pride! All who march with ECU will get a free ECU Pride shirt!

Sunday 7 December, open 11.00am - 4.00pm at The Living Room, Mount Lawley (ML.12.124)
To launch the ECU Queer Archiving Project, supported by WestPride Archives, we invite current and former staff, students, alumni and community to help preserve ECU’s queer history. Bring photos, memorabilia, creative works and memories. View a display of LGBTIQA+ items and take a final wander through Mount Lawley before the move to City Campus.
