We asked ECU students to share their best advice for studying well, managing stress and staying balanced — and you delivered!

As we head into the final weeks of semester, it’s easy to feel the pressure of deadlines and exams. But you’re not alone — every ECU student has their own way of staying motivated and keeping study on track. These tried-and-tested strategies from your peers might just inspire your next study session.

1. Plan it out: Map your deadlines, schedule study blocks and make sure to include regular breaks. Staying organised helps you manage stress and keep a healthy balance between study, rest and life.

2. Start smart: Print and read your assignment brief on paper — it can help you better understand what’s required and reduce screen fatigue. Giving your eyes and brain a break early helps you focus better later.

3. Chunk your goals: Break big tasks into smaller, achievable steps so you can see progress each day. Finishing a chunk at a time helps build momentum and gives you that well-earned sense of accomplishment.

4. Study smarter: Try the Pomodoro technique — short, focused bursts followed by quick breaks — and use active recall to test your understanding. These methods boost memory and keep your brain engaged.

5. Tackle your weak spots: It’s tempting to revisit material you already know, but growth happens when you face the topics that challenge you. Identify your weaker areas early and turn them into your strengths.

Remember, effective study isn’t about perfection — it’s about progress. Be kind to yourself, take breaks when you need them, and celebrate how far you’ve come this semester. You’ve got this!
