Are you passionate about student representation and shaping ECU’s future? Nominations are now open for one undergraduate and one postgraduate student to join the University Council, ECU’s governing body.

This is a unique opportunity to contribute to the strategic direction of the University, represent the student voice at the highest level, and gain valuable leadership experience. Student members of Council also receive a small remuneration for their time and contribution.

What is University Council?

The University Council is ECU’s governing body, as defined in Part III of the Edith Cowan University Act 1984. It oversees strategic direction and high-level decision-making, and establishes committees to consider matters in depth and provide advice or recommendations.

Why nominate?

ECU is committed to ensuring its decision-making bodies reflect a diversity of perspectives. In line with this commitment, and the TEQSA Provider Threshold Standards, all suitably qualified students are encouraged to apply, regardless of gender or background.

Council members must also meet the requirements outlined in the Fit and Proper Person Declaration.

Key dates

  • Nominations close: 5.00pm, Wednesday 27 August
  • Voting period (if required): 3 September – 17 September
