Commonwealth Prac Payment (CPP) Applications Now Open

If you’re completing an eligible placement in teaching, nursing, midwifery or social work, you may qualify for the Commonwealth Prac Payment (CPP).

The CPP offers $331.65 per week during your placement to support Edith Cowan University (ECU) students who meet specific eligibility and means-tested requirements.

To apply:

  • Submit an online application for each placement block (CPP is not automatically granted)
  • Upload all required documentation
  • Ensure your bank details in SIMO are current

To receive the CPP, you must:

  1. Be a domestic student (Australian citizen, permanent resident or New Zealand citizen)
  2. Be enrolled in a Commonwealth Supported Place (CSP)
  3. Be studying an accredited Bachelor or Master’s degree that leads to professional registration in:
    • Teaching
    • Nursing
    • Midwifery
    • Social Work
  4. Be undertaking a mandatory placement that:
    • Averages 30 hours or more per week, or
    • For Midwifery, is a Continuity of Care placement that restricts paid work, or
    • Qualifies under exceptional circumstances with a Learning Access Plan (LAP)
  5. Not have exceeded your course’s maximum funded weeks for CPP
  6. Meet one of the approved means-tested eligibility options

Applications may take up to 21 days to be assessed. If more information is required, you’ll be contacted via email.
