We’re taking a closer look at how ECU can evolve to better support your learning. By speaking directly with students, we hope to gain deeper insight into what’s working, what isn’t, and what changes could make your learning experience even better.
We’re conducting research to better understand what matters most to our students in relation to teaching and learning at ECU. This includes your thoughts on topics such as:
We’ll provide you a link to participate in an online discussion forum ahead of the focus groups. These can be done at any time ahead of the focus groups, at your own convenience, and ensures that you are informed and understand the topic we’ll be discussing in-person. You’ll be asked to complete a few tasks, including some general questions about university and the student experience and journey, and some broad research on the topic at hand.
A focus group is a small, informal discussion where we ask for your thoughts and opinions on a specific topic. It’s a relaxed conversation with other students led by a trained and impartial moderator who will ensure everyone gets a chance to voice their opinions. We’re just looking to learn more about what you think – there are absolutely no right or wrong answers. This is a chance to share your views and in turn help improve the student experience here at ECU.
All current ECU students are welcome! We’re looking for a mix of domestic and international students, undergraduate and postgraduate students, on-campus and online students, and diverse students. We want a diverse mix of voices and experiences to represent the whole of the ECU student body, so we encourage everyone to express their interest in participating. Please note that participation is on a first come first served basis, and we cannot guarantee everybody who applies will be selected.
Two focus groups will be held on the 1 July 2025 at the ECU Joondalup Campus:
Once you register your interest, your details will be passed onto a market research company called ThinkField. If you are selected to take part, a member of the ThinkField team will call you and provide you with more information about the session and will confirm your participation.
Please note, if you are not selected for a focus group, there will be additional opportunities to provide your feedback via an online survey in a few months. We will keep you updated via the student newsletter.
