At ECU were focused on keeping our campus safe for everyone, and it's a task that needs everyone's involvement. Take a moment to add these essential numbers to your phone and download some helpful apps.
ECU has an Out of Hours Crisis Line that gives students additional support overnight and on weekends. The phone support service operates from 4.30pm to 8.30am on weekdays, and 24 hours on weekends, providing students with mental health and wellbeing support.
Students can access the service by telephoning 1300 583 032 or via SMS by texting 0488 884 232. Add these numbers to your phone for easy access.
The service is intended to help callers find immediate relief from emotional distress, explore coping strategies for the current crisis, safely manage any immediate threats to life or safety, open pathways for longer-term solutions and focus specific next steps for the caller to take.
The Out of Hours Crisis Line is just one way in which ECU supports students. The university also has counselling services that students can access, as well as a raft of programs to assist students with challenges in learning, adjusting to university life, and building life skills.
The Crisis Line is available any time the university is closed, including evenings, weekends, and public holidays.
Whether you would like to report seeing something a little suspicious, have security staff to walk with you to your car, or simply to want your own personal duress alarm, this app is for you.
This works as your personal security phone, allowing you to contact ECU Security at the touch of a button. In the unlikely event you need urgent assistance, the application provides a personal SOS button, which notifies our security team of your exact location, and starts recording events so we can get help to you straight away.
This application is provided free of charge to all ECU students & staff, with 24/7 monitoring from our dedicated security control room. Register for NowForce. Save 08 6304 3333 the number for security in your phone too .
ECU is making it easier to report health and safety incidents and hazards with a new app called pocketSafety that is easily downloaded to your smart phone. The app allows you to quickly submit health and safety hazard and incident details to the University and upload photos of potential dangers.
Download pocketSafety from the App Store or Google Play and type access code “ECU” in the connection settings before logging in with your ECU Student login. Alternatively, you can access the Desktop version of the software by clicking Riskware under Easy logins on your student portal.
Having a good awareness of and reporting potential safety issues helps keep the University safe for everyone. Find out more about the health and safety software online, or call 6304 2302 if you need additional assistance.
It's always a good idea to save the emergency numbers in your phone. Triple Zero (000) is the emergency number for police, fire and ambulance services.
Call 131 444 to contact Police other than in an emergency.
