The key to finding a meaningful career is to ask yourself ‘What are my strengths’. Now is a great time to discover what your truly enjoy by discovering your strengths. Understand which strengths you rely on most, how your strengths manifest in your daily life, and how to make the most of your natural gifts.

Knowing our strengths allows us to use those that benefit us consciously and more actively. All while developing those that we might potentially find useful. Becoming aware of your strengths helps you to develop more self-confidence and self-awareness, as well as a deeper appreciation and value for how each of us is different (Peterson and Seligman, 2004). Understanding our strengths has been shown to have extensive positive benefits across our life.

Character strengths are a core and foundational part of who we are, a collection of positive individual character traits that we all possess, and which are linked to our development, wellbeing, and life satisfaction (Niemiec, 2013). They can be thought of as key capabilities, influencing how we think, act, and feel, and representing what we value in ourselves and others.

The VIA Character Personality Assessment is a scientific instrument measuring our strengths, and it is widely used in both academia and schools, organisations, and more (Peterson & Seligman, 2004).

The VIA Survey of Character Strengths is a free self-assessment that takes less than 15 minutes and provides a wealth of information to help you understand your best qualities. VIA Reports provide personalised, in-depth analysis of your free results, including actionable tips to apply your strengths to find greater well-being.

After completing a free version of the VIA Survey, you will receive a ranking of your strengths along with a brief description of each.
