Edith Cowan University (ECU) continues to excel in the 2023 Shanghai Ranking’s Global Ranking of Academic Subjects (GRAS) across a range of study areas that highlight the University’s dedication to quality education.
Of the notable achievements in this year’s ranking results, ECU’s top three ranked subjects were:
ECU proudly claims the top position in Western Australia for Hospitality and Tourism Management (3rd in Australia) jumping four places to 26th in the world. This result further solidifies ECU as a great choice for students looking for a career in this field.
The University has also made significant progress in Chemical Engineering jumping up a band for the third consecutive year (now at 151-200); demonstrating our commitment to excellence.

The 2023 Shanghai Ranking’s GRAS contains rankings of universities in 55 subjects across Natural Sciences, Engineering, Life Sciences, Medical Sciences, and Social Sciences.
The GRAS rankings use a range of objective academic indicators and third-party data to measure the performance of world universities in respective subjects, including research output (Q1), research influence (CNCl), international collaboration (IC), research quality (Top), and international academic awards (Award).
