For an innovative approach to placement assessment in dietetics that places the students in control of, and responsible for, the development of their competence.

Engagement in Learning and Teaching

Bibiana Anderson
For a community engagement project between ECU dietetic students and Breakers Swim Club in the provision of nutritious meals for school aged children at “Splash Camp.”

Dr Stephanie Meek
For initiative in partnering with the On My Feet social enterprise program, delivering outstanding outcomes for students and enhancing ECU’s reputation for academic outreach.

For sustained excellence in engaging on campus and online students by developing effective, critical and reflective student learning dispositions through exceptional, consistent relationship based teaching.

For excellence in international and industry engagement to enhance student learning, employability and the profile of the West Australian Screen Academy.

Jo McManus
For empowering students to develop broadcast careers through a successful postgraduate broadcasting course that delivers paid industry internships, high employment rates and strong industry networks.

For providing an opportunity for Registered Nursing students to achieve an additional nationally recognised qualification during their RN studies and gain meaningful employment while studying.

For an innovative and authentic motorsports curriculum that brings together theory, practice, peer collaboration, mentoring and multiple industry links that has been emulated by other universities.

Programs that Enhance Learning For a comprehensive approach to developing English Language Proficiency, using a diagnostic assessment that directs students to appropriate support and enhances satisfaction and outcomes.

Research

Excellence in Research By Early Career Researcher Award

Dr Melanie Blanchette
For using applied ecological theory to reduce the environmental impact of mining on river systems and catchments. Partnering with industry, her early career has been defined by creative approaches to river monitoring and pit lake ecology to advance the field of freshwater science.

Engagement in Research Award

Professor Caroline Barratt Pugh
For the early childhood research group’s major impact on literacy learning in WA families through the longitudinal evaluation of the Better Beginnings (Birth‐3yrs) program. From small beginnings in 2005, the program is currently delivered to over 60,000 families and has diversified to include programs for kindergarten, CaLD and Aboriginal families.

Excellence in Research Supervision

Associate Professor Hadrian Djajadikerta
For his philosophy of research supervision as partnership in deep and fun learning, by applying a balanced approach students can be encouraged to achieve success in their research journey irrespective of their diversities. Hadrian provides his students with responsibility and opportunity to positively develop themselves as independent researchers.

Dr Marcella Polain
For her successful supervision of 23 HDR students in Creative Writing and across Writing and Visual Arts, Writing and Theatre, and Writing and English, with particular focus on practice-led research/research-led practice and embodied learning. To date, eight of these graduates have had their creative work published in book form by mainstream publishers.

Bianca Vivarelli
For consistently demonstrating leadership and professionalism, above and beyond her normal responsibilities. Her willingness to take on additional responsibilities, and her efforts at improving protocols and processes within the School, have significantly improved academic administration and governance in the School of Arts and Humanities.

Inspirational Individual - Rational Inquiry

Gordon McIntyre
For his exceptional level of performance and productivity, consistently far and above expectations. Gordon evaluates large amounts of research performance data used to inform decision-making at ECU.

Inspirational Individual - Respect

Jasbir Singh
For his strong morals, values, and respect for people, policies and ECU as a whole which nurtures relationships and supports the delivery of high-quality outcomes. Jasbir thrives on building relationships with respect often in very challenging circumstances.

Inspirational Team

Australian Indigenous HealthInfo Net
For delivering 20 years of high quality research outcomes at ECU, and being recognised world-wide for their contribution to closing the health gap between Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people and other Australians.

Security and Traffic Services
For their collective professionalism, caring approach, sense of duty and willingness to deliver above and beyond expectations. The team have adopted and implemented a range of technologies and system improvements to ensure that our campuses are safe and accessible.

Outstanding Contribution in Health and Safety Practice

Adrian Styles and Dr Yong Sun
For improving and sustaining safe work practices in the School of Engineering and effective representation on ECU’s Radiation Biosafety Hazardous Substances Committee and Chemical Hazardous Substances Working Group. Both have been instrumental in facilitating workplace improvement.

Contribution to Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander Advancement Award
