New starter - Academic staff, sessional
Contracts below 6 months
Our online staff induction has been developed to ensure your transition is as smooth as possible. We understand starting a new job can sometimes be an overwhelming experience, so this material will always be here for you to refer back to throughout your employment – to help make life a little easier.
As a sessional academic or fixed-term academic employee on a contract less than six months, your induction provides information to help you get to know us better. The recommended items are designed to support you and your supervisor to clarify expectations for your role and ensure you understand our safety procedures. Our training and development courses, information for getting to know us and getting started, can be completed at your own pace and will help you become familiar with our organisation’s structure, our values, and where to find a range of services. Use the staff induction to explore our University and get the most out of your ECU experience.
To help you get started, this part of induction will guide you through the small things you'll need in your first week. Find out about:
- the academic calendar
- staff ID and access cards
- email etiquette
- campus maps
- travelling to work and parking
As part of your corporate staff induction, we recommend you complete these few items to help you understand your role as part of our ECU community and to feel safe whilst at work.
