The use of learning analytics over the last years has been a big promise to improve education. Learning management systems can provide a wide range of reports and data about students’ interactions with each other and course content. However, to make sense of all the data provided through learning management systems is a challenge to most teachers. The Loop Tool is an open-source software that has been developed to provide learning analytics to teachers in a meaningful way through its connection with learning design.
The aim of this workshop is two-fold. First, we aim to examine the concepts of learning analytics and learning design, including their association and applicability to teaching and learning practice. Second, we aim to provide a hands-on experience for participants to apply this knowledge using the Loop Tool.
