From job searching to getting the most out of LinkedIn, skill up for your career

Career Focus: This month at ECU we're having a focus the skills and knowledge needed to successfully launch your career.

ECU's Careers and Employability team have a mountain of events to help you be career ready, from skills workshops, to guest industry speakers, and online discussions Here's some of the events running this week.

LinkedIn Workshop

Learn how to optimise your Linkedln account for job search purposes, how to connect to individuals, groups and companies in your chosen labour market to access the hidden job market and understand how recruiters use Linkedln to source 'talent'.

This workshop will be delivered online via Blackboard Collaborate Ultra, with a weblink to join the online session made available once you book your place.

The Hidden Job Market

This workshop will help you access jobs that are not necessarily advertised. Look for those opportunities that are not advertised and tap into the market using recommended strategies

Making Applications for Teachers -  Resume, Cover Letters and Selection Criteria

This workshop on-line using Blackboard will help you;

  • Understand marketing documents required for your application based on Gov, Independent and Catholic Schools
  • How to use the STAR/SAO technique to address the AITSL Standards
  • How to address applications for other schools (Independent/Catholic) and how to research the school that you are applying for.

When: Friday 26 June from 10.00am - 11.00am

Students and recent graduates of ECU can also take advantage of the University's Careers Team who run regular workshops and drop-in session to help people with their job seeking skills. You can also make an appointment to consult one of the team about your job seeking strategies.
