ECU Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander Scholarship

The ECU Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander Scholarships are intended to assist Australian Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander students with the costs associated with University study. Applications are sought from Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander students from low socio-economic backgrounds who may also be dealing with difficulties such as a disability or ongoing illness, significant caring responsibilities, or relocation from rural or regional areas. ECU Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander Scholarships are valued at $3000 per year for each full-time year (or pro rata) of a student's undergraduate course at ECU.

Application Closing Date: 7 March 2016
Method of Application: Application form will be available to download from this web page between application opening and closing dates


Amount: $3000 per year for full-time enrolment (pro rata for part-time) minimum 30 credit points

Frequency: $1500 (or pro rata) payment made each semester for duration of course after census date

Method: Electronic Funds Transfer

Eligibility Requirements

Eligibility criteria:

Applicants must provide evidence of their

  • Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander descent
  • Financial Hardship

Current students are expected to have maintained an academic status of good standing at the end of each semester (as defined in the ECU handbook)
