ECU Researchers on Writing

Have you ever wondered how the leaders in your field write with such clarity, insight and ease? ECU Researchers on Writing (ECUROW) is an initiative in which senior scholars from across Edith Cowan University offer personal reflections on the process of writing.

This initiative has been inspired by Durham University’s Writing on Writing project which features the insights of luminaries in the social sciences. While reflecting the purpose and format of that project, ECUROW extends the breadth of disciplines of contributing researchers to capture the richness of research writing at Edith Cowan University.

Contributors offer their thoughts, strategies, pearls of wisdom, and other musings to inspire and fortify those undertaking higher degrees by research, and to help raise the quality of graduate research writing. The intention of ECUROW is to remind students that writing is an integral part of the research process – a craft to be honed and practised throughout their candidature.

Our collection includes contributions from eminent researchers from a diverse range of disciplines. Here are some examples: Professor Clive Barstow, Dean of the School of Arts and Humanities on ‘The creative exegesis’; Associate Professor Denise Jackson from the School of Business and Law giving ‘Tips on writing a journal article’; Professor Di Twigg, Dean of the School of Nursing and Midwifery offering ‘Writing tips’; and Professor Wei Wang from the School of Medical and Health Sciences suggesting how to write ‘A good title for your thesis’.
