Applying for animal ethics approval

All research at ECU should be tested within the Proportional Review Checklist (PRC) to determine the most appropriate review pathway for its review.  This includes animal research.  If your answers to the questions asked in the PRC indicate your work requires animal ethics review, you will be taken to STREAM to complete your application.

Developing an application for ethics approval can require considerable time, depending on the nature of your project. However, you can start an application at any time in STREAM and work on it (in several sessions if necessary) until it is ready to submit for review.

Process

Important: Ethics approval is required prior to any research or teaching activities involving the use of animals. Retrospective ethics approval cannot be granted.
