Availability

Saman is available on Joondalup campus each Wednesday (from 8.30-12.30 and from 2:30-4:30).

Training areas

Saman provides support from his own experience with:

  • Quantitative statistics and statistical software (Excel, SPSS, Minitab, R)
  • Referencing (Endnote and Mendeley)
  • Thesis and document formatting

Saman also offers support in the following areas:

  • Journal evaluation
  • Techniques for getting more citations
  • Thesis and document formatting
  • Turnitin
  • Creating presentations in Prezi
  • Graphical programs such as Photoshop and Visio
  • Artificial Intelligence (machine learning, artificial neural networks, deep learning)

Research area

Saman is undertaking his PhD in the School of Science. He is investigating advanced algorithms for weed-crop classification to produce more accurate plant discrimination techniques. He is exploring new machine-learning algorithms and evaluating the statistical features of those algorithms to compare each method, and identify optimal algorithms for particular discrimination applications.

Background

Saman is international student who holds a master’s degree in Solid State Physics from the University of Science and Technology, Iran. His primary interest lies in the field of machine learning. He has undertaken a variety of research projects in the area of machine learning and artificial intelligent and he is still curious to learn more about new methods. Saman appreciates the value of the cultural diversity and his motivation is to share what he learns with others.
