Research governance

In Australia, all researchers and research students are required to comply with The Australian Code for the Responsible Conduct of Research (the Code). Consistent with the University’s values of integrity, respect, rational inquiry and personal excellence, researchers must ensure that their research conduct and practice reflects the principles and responsibilities set out in the Code. This section of the Researcher Professional Development Framework (RPDF), will help you find practical advice and examples, professional learning and additional resources to help you understand and implement the standards and requirements to conduct responsible research.

How to use the framework

The advice in each competency below will help you to plan and track your progress according to your career stage and participate in training, mentoring and other activities. Discover strategies on how to;

  • learn and develop through experience (on the job);
  • learn and develop through others (mentoring, coaching, social networks); and
  • learn and develop through structured professional learning (training workshops and seminars, online modules, webinars, articles and other useful resources).

Visit the RPD@ECU training workshops and events calendar to access professional learning linked to the framework.
