Sustainability

Sustainability and environmentally friendly practices are at the forefront of consideration for Edith Cowan University (ECU).

Our Environmental Sustainability Policy sets the parameters for achievement of the University’s strategic commitment to environmental sustainability of University activities and operations. More information can be obtained from the Environmental management page.

What should our students be learning about sustainability and what tools do they need to be able to deal with emerging paradigms and challenges?

The Australian Government launched a National Action Plan for Education for Sustainability in April 2009 that includes a strategy to re-orient education systems to sustainability. This strategy focuses on achieving a culture of sustainability in which teaching and learning for sustainability are reinforced by continuous improvement in the sustainability of campus management.
